Battery Ordinance

In connection with the sale of batteries or with the delivery of devices that contain batteries, we are obliged to draw your attention to the following things regarding the disposal of used batteries:

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. Batteries are poisonous and harmful to the environment! What few people know, in Austria (and also in most other countries) you are even legally obliged to return used batteries to suitable collection points as an end user. These collection points can be, for example: battery collection boxes at supermarket checkouts or recycling yards and the like. You can also return used batteries that you have received from us with sufficient postage to us at the following address:

The symbols shown on the battery packaging have the following meaning:

  • The symbol of the crossed out garbage can means that the battery must not be disposed of with household waste.
  • Pb = battery contains more than 0.004% lead by mass
  • Cd = battery contains more than 0.002 mass percent cadmium
  • Hg = battery contains more than 0.0005 mass percent mercury.
